Two police officers taken to hospital after crash on A66 leaves van smashed up

Two police officers have been taken to hospital after a marked van an crashed with another on the A66.

The crash involving a police van and a van with a trailer happened on the A66 Westbound, at the Cargo Fleet Lane Roundabout just after 12.15pm on Monday (September 22).

The road was closed and emergency services are remained at the scene at the time of publication.

Meanwhile the white Iveco van's front bumpers was seen hanging off.

Police closed the road while fire and ambulance colleagues worked at the scene.

A spokesperson from Cleveland Police said at about 2pm: "Police are currently at the scene of a two-vehicle collision involving a police van and a panel van with trailer which happened just after 12.15pm on a roundabout on the A66 westbound. Advertisement

"Two officers have been taken to hospital to be checked over.

"The A66 westbound has been closed, with a diversion along Middlesbrough Road, eastbound traffic is flowing as usual.

"We appreciate motorists' co-operation and understanding while we deal with the collision."
