Van driver arrested after man in 80s seriously injured in A38 crash

A man in his 80s was left seriously injured following a crash on a roundabout in Worcestershire[1], police have said.

Officers arrested a 32-year-old van driver on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless or inconsiderate driving following the incident on the Tewkesbury Road A38 in Upton-on-Severn.

Emergency crews were called to the scene at around 7pm on Wednesday, September 17, following a crash between a Volkswagen Caddy and a Yamaha Motorbike.

The biker suffered injuries to his leg, back and pelvis in the ordeal.

And now West Mercia Police is now appealing for witnesses to come forward as officers investigate what happened.

PC Grint-Smith said: "We are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision, particularly if you have any dash cam footage.

A spokesperson for the force added: "Officers are investigating a serious collision on the Tewkesbury Road (A38) in Upton-on-Severn last night (Wednesday 17 September).

"The collision occurred at around 7pm at the roundabout where the A38 meets the A4104, and involved a Volkswagen Caddy and a Yamaha Motorbike.

"The motorcyclist, a man in his 80s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries to his leg, back and pelvis.

"The driver of the van, a 32-year-old man, has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless or inconsiderate driving.

"He has been released under investigation as enquires continue."
