A303 reopens after serious lorry and car crash near Stonehenge
The A303 has[1] reopened after three vehicles crashed on the major South West route. The road was closed in both directions between Deptford and Salisbury, in Wiltshire, this morning, Friday, October 10. Two vans and a lorry were involved, according to Salisbury Police. Wiltshire Police[2], Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service and the ambulance service are all at the scene.
Drivers were warned to expect delays[3] while the road was closed. It has since reopened. National Highways said: "The A303 in Wiltshire is closed in both directions between the A36 (Deptford) and the A360 (near Salisbury) due to a serious collision.
"Wiltshire Police, Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and South West Ambulance Services are in attendance. It is expected that the road will remain closed for several hours today. Delays are likely on approach to the closure and diversion routes."
In an update at around 11am, National Highways said the A303 had reopened: "Vehicle recovery and collision clear-up work complete and the #A303[4] is OPEN in both directions between #A36[5] (#Deptford[6]) and #A360[7] (near #Salisbury[8]) Please have a safe onwards journey today."
