M5 speed camera strikes again: Man caught ignoring 50mph limit loses licence

Samuel Preece, of Worcester Road, was snapped speeding on November 2 last year. Worcester magistrates heard that the 30-year-old was driving a Vauxhall on the M5, J6-4a Northbound, at a speed of more than 50mph when a temporary maximum speed restriction was in place. Preece pleaded guilty and was given three penalty points putting his licence in jeopardy, the court heard.

Pleading exceptional hardship should he be banned from driving, Preece told the court that it would have an exceptional impact on his family.

Magistrates agreed and banned him from driving for two months, saying there were mitigating circumstances and a longer disqualification would have an impact on his family.

Preece was also fined ?174, ordered to pay ?130 court costs and a victim surcharge of ?70.
