M6 closure live as motorway ‘closed for hours more’ after motorcyclist dies

A section of the M6 is to remain closed after a motorcyclist tragically died in a collision. The crash involving a lorry happened on the southbound carriageway between J10a and J10, just before 3pm. As a result, the motorway has been shut between J11 and J10, at Walsall.

West Midlands Police said: "We are at the scene of a fatal collision on the M6 near Walsall this afternoon. "We were called shortly before 3pm after a collision involving a lorry and a motorcycle near Junction 10 of the M6. "The rider of the motorcycle was sadly confirmed dead at the scene.

The driver of the lorry remained at the scene to help officers with their enquiries. "Officers are remaining at the scene with colleagues from Highways and the other emergency services. "As a result, the road will remain closed for some time into this evening."
