Man dies in crash on main Scotland-England motorway
A man has died in a crash which closed both sides of the main road link between Scotland and England.
Emergency services were called out to reports of a single-vehicle accident which shut the A74(M) and M6 motorways at about 06:40 on Thursday.
Cumbria Police said the accident involved an HGV and the driver - a man in his 60s - was pronounced dead at the scene, close to junction 45 northbound for Gretna.
The road was shut between the border and Carlisle and diversions have been put in place and drivers were asked to avoid the area if possible.
