Two trucks involved in smash
Police, paramedics, and firefighters were scrambled to the A50 after a crash involving two trucks. Firefighters say they had received reports one person was trapped following the collision. However police had been able to help them from the HGV.
The smash occurred just before 9.55am this morning near the bottom of the exit slip road from Weston Road roundabout. During the height of the incident and the westbound carriageway came to a stop with queues back to Blythe Bridge. A spokeswoman for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called to the Meir Tunnel west, following reports of two lorries being involved in a collision, with one person reported trapped.
Two crews attended the scene. Police had assisted one person out of a vehicle prior to our arrival. This person received precautionary checks by paramedics.
Firefighters ensured all vehicles were made safe. The incident was left in the care of Staffordshire Police."
The damaged truck being recoveredA force spokeswoman said: "We assisted one person in exiting a vehicle. They were checked over by paramedics at the scene.
No injuries were reported. Highways were informed due to fluid on the road." West Midlands Ambulance Service also attended the scene.
A spokeswoman said: "We were called to a road traffic collision involving two HGVs. One ambulance and a paramedic officer attended the scene. Upon arrival we found a man who was the driver of the first HGV.
He was assessed and was uninjured.
He received self-care advice before being discharged at the scene."
