Tanker crash on South West road sees vehicle flip on its side as driver trapped

A lorry has overturned during a collision on the A39 in Cornwall. The carriageway remains shut southbound at Devoran following the incident, which occurred close to Carnon Gate roundabout. Emergency crews have responded to the scene of the lorry crash

Images captured at the location reveal the upended navy blue vehicle obstructing the carriageway at one of the roundabout's exits. Traffic is being rerouted around the collision, reports Cornwall Live[1]. One eyewitness informed CornwallLive: "Tanker on its side near Perranarworthal, roads temporarily closed, traffic queues."

A second person reported being trapped in congestion for approximately 40 minutes, stating that the "roundabout is completely blocked by the accident".

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed: "Police were notified at around 9.45am today to reports of a collision between three vehicles on the A39, Devoran. The road has been closed at the top of Carnon Downs carriageway and motorists are being asked to avoid the area at this time while emergency services work at the scene. "As the collision has involved a tanker, specialist recovery will be required.

One driver has been extracted from the vehicle. Injuries are currently unknown but are not believed to be life-threatening at this time." Google Maps indicates significant disruption at the roundabout, with tailbacks in both directions on the A39 and the route to Bissoe.
