Woman dies in hospital after car and HGV crash

A woman has died after suffering life-threatening injuries when the car she was travelling in was involved in a collision with an HGV.

The 62-year-old was a passenger in a black Ford Kuga being driven on the A165 in Speeton, near Filey, at about 12:20 GMT on Tuesday, according to North Yorkshire Police.

The woman was taken to hospital following the collision where she later died, while the Kuga's driver, who also suffered life-threatening injuries, remained in a stable condition, a force spokesperson said.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have relevant footage, was asked to contact police.
