A1 crash tragedy as man dies in slip road collision after ‘concern for safety’

Tragedy struck on one of Yorkshire's major roads today after a man died[1] in a crash along a major route. South Yorkshire Police[2] confirmed in a statement that a man died after a crash between junction 38 and Barnsdale Bar[3] on the A1 near Doncaster in South Yorkshire[4] this morning. Officers were called to reports of a collision at 7.47am, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family have been informed. A spokesperson for the force said: "At 7.47am today we were called to reports of a concern for safety for a man at the A1 between junction 38 and Barnsdale Bar. The road was closed from junction 38 northbound to Barnsdale Bar southbound, and at the junction 37 slip road at Marr, and emergency services attended the scene.

"Sadly, despite the best efforts of medical staff, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man's family has been informed and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time."
