A52 closed live updates as Nottinghamshire road shut for hours after ‘Army lorry overturns’

Part of a major Nottinghamshire[1] road is expected to be closed[2] for several hours after a lorry - which appears to have been travelling in an Army convoy - overturned and shed its load. The A52[3] is shut in both directions between the A1 (Barrowby) and the A46 (Saxondale) due to the collision. This closure is causing disruption for motorists[4] travelling from the east of Rushcliffe into Lincolnshire.

"Closures will be in place for several hours due to complex recovery," a spokesperson for National Highways said. Emergency services and National Highways traffic officers are currently on scene, the body added. Traffic is being diverted via local routes.

Drivers have been substantially slowed by the road closure, according to traffic monitoring service Inrix. "A52 in both directions closed, slow traffic due to overturned lorry and shed load from Belvoir Road (Easthorpe) to A1 (Grantham North / Barrowby Turn Off, Barrowby)," the service said. You can read the full diversion routes here[5].
