A52 in Nottinghamshire shut for hours after ‘Army lorry overturns’

Part of a major Nottinghamshire[1] road was closed[2] for several hours after a lorry - which appears to have been travelling in an Army convoy - overturned and shed its load. The A52[3] was shut in both directions between the A1 (Barrowby) and the A46 (Saxondale) before 7am, but reopened at around midday. This closure had caused disruption for motorists[4] travelling from the east of Rushcliffe into Lincolnshire.

"Closures will be in place for several hours due to complex recovery," a spokesperson for National Highways had said at the time. Emergency services and National Highways traffic officers had been deployed to the scene. Drivers had been diverted whilst the stretch of the A-road was shut.
