A64 crash between York and Tadcaster: HGV involved

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service say they were called at 7.06pm on Wednesday (November 12) after reports of a crash on the A64 between Bilbrough and Copmanthorpe. A service spokesman said: "Crews from Tadcaster and Acomb attended a three vehicle road traffic collision involving two cars and an HGV. "One occupant self extricated with assistance from fire crew and paramedics and all other occupants were already out on arrival.

"The crew made the scene safe and left the casualty in the care of paramedics." As The Press reported at the time[1], the A64 eastbound was closed between York and Tadcaster. North Yorkshire Police said the eastbound carriageway was closed at the A659 junction (Headley Bar) and was shut for some time.

A service spokesman said on the night: "Drivers planning to travel in this area are asked to avoid the A64 eastbound and use alternative routes.

Please follow local traffic updates for the latest information.

"Thank you for your patience and understanding while crews work at the scene."
