Caen Hill : Woman in 80s killed after being struck by vehicles

The crash happened on the A361 Caen Hill on Friday, November 14 in the evening. At 6.13pm police received reports that the woman, a pedestrian, had been struck near Mayenne Place. She was declared dead at the scene.
At the time of the crash the Met Office's amber warning for "persistent and heavy rain" was in force. Standing water appeared on key commuter routes, and Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue were urging drivers to take extreme care on waterlogged roads. One of the vehicles involved stopped but police say other vehicles are thought to have been involved but failed to stop.
A spokesperson also said it is possible that drivers are unaware they had struck someone and officers are urgently appealing for them to come forward. Sergeant James Barrett, from the Roads Policing Unit, said: "This is a tragic incident in which an elderly woman has lost her life, and our thoughts are with her family. "We are urgently working to establish the full circumstances of the collision.
"While one vehicle stopped at the scene, it's believed that other unknown vehicles may have been involved and we are really keen to speak with any drivers who were passing Caen Hill at that time, and thought they may have struck an object in the road. "We are also keen to speak with any witnesses or anyone who may have dash cam footage from that time." The road remains closed while an investigation is carried out but no arrests have been made.
It is likely to reopen shortly.
