Collision on M20 near Maidstone involving Volkswagen car and Mercedes-Benz van leaves man in hospital in critical condition

A man is in a critical condition after being airlifted to hospital following a crash on the M20 and police are appealing for witnesses. The accident happened on the coastbound carriageway near Maidstone between Junctions 8 and 9 at around 11.36pm on Wednesday (November 12).

The driver of a grey Volkswagen Polo was treated for injuries after the crash with a white Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van. The man in his 20s was then airlifted to a London hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

His next of kin have been informed. The other motorist was treated at hospital for minor injuries and has since been discharged. It is understood the car driver was travelling in the London-bound direction while on the coastbound carriageway.

Police are urging drivers who were in the area to check for dashcam footage, which may assist their investigation.
