Driver in his 30s dies in M20 multi-vehicle crash near Lenham

A man has died in a multi-vehicle crash on the M20[1] which happened this morning (Tuesday, November 25). Kent Police[2] said the accident involved[3] a white Mercedes lorry, a black Nissan Qashqai and a white Scania articulated lorry. They were all travelling on the London-bound carriageway of the M20[4], between Junctions 9 and 8.
A Kent Police spokesperson said: "The vehicles were involved in a collision at 8.27am on Tuesday 25 November 2025. Emergency services attended the scene and the driver of the Nissan, a man in his 30s, was confirmed to be deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Mercedes lorry was taken by air ambulance to a London hospital for treatment for serious injuries. Kent Police is calling for witnesses to the collision.
Officers from Kent Police's serious collision investigation unit are carrying out enquiries and urge anyone who witnessed the incident, or saw the vehicles before the collision, to contact them.

The M20 westbound, all three lanes, is expected to be closed for some hours. The incident was between Junction 9 (Ashford) and 8 (Maidstone).
There was a huge emergency response to the crash, which saw police, fire and ambulance crews attend, along with the air ambulance, which landed on the opposite side of the M20. Advertisement Advertisement

Traffic had to be stopped on the eastbound carriageway for around an hour for the landing of the Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex. It left the scene at 9.55am, with traffic not released until 10.20am, as emergency services crews continued to work at the scene.
A separate accident has shut the westbound entry slip at Junction 9. Traffic is not expected to return to normal here either until around 5.30pm, said National Highways.
