Man arrested after pedestrian is killed in Caernarfon crash

Police responded to a report of a crash involving a van and a pedestrian near to Bontnewydd at about 8.30pm on November 9. Emergency services attended, but the pedestrian, a 64-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.[1] Today (November 12), North Wales Police confirmed an arrest has been made.

A spokesperson for the force said: "We can confirm that a man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. "He has since been released under investigation, pending further inquiries." Sergeant Katie Davies, from North Wales Police's Roads Policing Unit, said: "I share my deepest condolences with the man's family at this incredibly difficult time.

"I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage to contact police.

"I am also appealing to anyone who was travelling along the A487 prior to 8.30pm yesterday evening and saw a man walking along the bypass to contact us.

"Anybody with information that could assist with our investigations should contact police via our website or by calling 101, quoting reference C174462."
