Pedestrian suffers serious injuries in e-bike ‘hit and run’

Police have released an image of the rider involved in the collision

Police are appealing for information after an e-bike rider seriously injured a pedestrian in a crash before riding off from the scene. The incident happened on Penlline Road in the Whitchurch area of Cardiff[1].

According to police, the rider "struck a pedestrian" close to coffee shop Coffi Lab. The pedestrian was taken to hospital after an ambulance was called.

Police are asking the public to contact them if they have any information or if they recognise the person pictured in the image they have released.

A spokesperson for South Wales Police[2]: "At approximately 7:30pm on Sunday, October 26, 2025, a man on an electric bike has overtaken a car whilst riding on Penlline Road, Whitchurch, Cardiff.

"He has then continued riding down the road at approximately 25mph, and has struck a pedestrian nearby to Coffi Lab.

This has resulted in them sustaining serious injuries which required hospital treatment.

"The subject made off from the scene prior to ambulance and police arrival and did not provide any witness with details.

"If you have witnessed this collision or have any information, please contact us quoting reference 2500342380."
