Teen who died ‘after police chase’ pictured as fireworks let off at motorway crash scene

A teenager who tragically died after being hit by a car on the M66 'following a police pursuit' has been pictured for the first time.

Kade Hughes, 19, has been named by friends as the man who died in the collision on the motorway on Sunday night (November 16). Tributes have been paid to Kade on social media, describing him as 'having a soft side' and being 'taken too soon'.

It comes as footage emerged of a group of people, believed to be Kade's friends, setting off fireworks and flares at the motorway crash site on Monday evening. The footage showed the group letting off the fireworks on a verge next to the busy motorway during rush-hour.

Kade died after he was struck by a car on the motorway, near to the M60 junction for Simister Island, at around 9.40pm on Sunday night. He was a pedestrian and was hit by a vehicle which was travelling southbound on the M66, police said.

Officers lost sight of the vehicle and found it on the Junction 18 roundabout of the M60, believed to be abandoned after having collided with another vehicle.
