Woman suffers ‘serious injuries’ after A500 lorry crash

A woman is in hospital with 'serious injuries' after a crash between a car and truck shut part of the A500. Police, paramedics, and firefighters were sent to the D-road this morning.

Now Cheshire Police say the driver of the car has been taken to hospital for treatment for 'serious injuries'. The collision between the HGV and blue Kia Sportage occurred at around 6.15am.

The Meremoss roundabout crash shut the westbound stretch to Junction 16 of the M6.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service sent three fire engines and the 'major rescue unit'. A spokesperson said: "Crews were called to a collision involving a heavy goods vehicle and a car, with one person trapped in the car.

"Police closed the road while emergency services dealt with the incident. Firefighters used lifting equipment to safely extricate the person from the car before handing them into the care of paramedics."

A spokeswoman for the force said: "Police were called to reports of a collision on Meremore Moss Roundabout at Weston, Crewe.

Officers attended and found the collision involved a blue Kia Sportage and a HGV.

"The driver of the Kia, a woman, sustained serious injuries and has been taken to hospital for treatment."
