A39 closed after crash leaves two people trapped inside van

Avon and Somerset Police have confirmed that a single vehicle collision happened just after 1pm today (Tuesday, December 9) on the A39 near Minehead[1]. "Due to high winds, the road is unsafe, and closures are in place." A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 12.59pm today, two appliances from Minehead and Lynton fire stations attended an incident on the A39 near Oare where a van had tipped over in the wind and trapped the driver and a passenger.

"Crews were able to quickly stabilise the vehicle and extricate both occupants, who were checked over by paramedics at the scene."

South Western Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
