Family ‘devastated’ as father killed in HGV crash

The family of a man who died after being hit by a lorry said they are "devastated".
Peter Cope, 45, had been out celebrating his birthday in Sandbach with a friend, they said in a statement.
Officers were called to the A534 Wheelock Bypass between Wheelock and Crewe shortly after 03:00 on 21 December.
Mr Cope, from Crewe, who was a pedestrian at the time of the incident, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
"Peter was a devoted father to his five-year-old daughter, a husband, stepfather, son, and brother," his family said. "We are devastated by his death."
Officers urged any witnesses to come forward with dashcam footage.
