Five-car crash on M6 after woman suffers ‘medical episode’

A woman is in a serious condition after suffering a suspected medical episode while driving on the M6 near Coventry. The incident led to a crash which police say involved five vehicles Emergency services were called to a section of the road by Junction three on Wednesday morning (10 December).
A woman was treated at the scene before being rushed to hospital. A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and a van on the M6[1] between junctions 3a - 3, Coventry[2] at 10.31am today. "Two ambulances and a critical care car from The Air Ambulance Service responded to the scene.
Crews arrived to find an off duty nurse caring for the car driver, a woman, who was in a serious condition. "Ambulance staff administered treatment to the woman before she was conveyed on blue lights to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire[4] for further emergency care. A spokesman for Warwickshire Police[5] said: "First report at 10.30am.
Suspected medical episode leading to five-vehicle road traffic collision.
Happened on M6 southbound between J3 to J4 roundabout for the M6 toll."
