M5 and M6 interchange delays as drivers face ‘hour-long’ queues after crash

Lanes 1 and 2 remain closed on the M5 northbound between J1 and M6 J8 for vehicle recovery

Drivers are facing lengthy delays following a crash on the M5 and M6 interchange.

Lanes one and two are currently closed on the M5 northbound between J1 and M6 J8 following a multi vehicle collision.

Vehicle recovery has been arranged but motorists are being warned of hour long queues.

The incident is said to have involved a HGV and two cars.

All of the emergency services are on the scene but there is no word on potential injuries.

National Highways West Midlands said: "Lanes 1 and 2 remain CLOSED on the #M5 northbound between J1 #WESTBROMWICH and #M6 J8 for vehicle recovery and clear up works following a multi vehicle collision.

"There are currently delays of 60 mins on approach to the incident."

Traffic Provider Inrix said: "Two lanes blocked and severe delays due to accident on M5 Northbound from J1 A4252 Kenrick Way (West Bromwich / Birmingham[3]) to the M6 Interchange."

Normal traffic conditions are expected between 8.45pm and 9pm according to Motorway Cameras.
