Driver suffers 'serious injuries' in M6 crash
West Midlands Ambulance Service has now issued a statement following the earlier crash involving a car and a van on the M6 in Warwickshire. The driver of a car, a woman, suffered serious injuries' and was looked after by an off-duty nurse at the scene before medics arrived. West Midlands Ambulance Service said it was called a 10.31am and sent two ambulances and a critical care car from The Air Ambulance Service.
A spokeswoman for the service said: "We were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and a van on the M6 between junctions 3a - 3, Coventry at 10.31am today.
"Crews arrived to find an off duty nurse caring for the car driver, a woman, who was in a serious condition.
"Ambulance staff administered treatment to the woman before she was conveyed on blue lights to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further emergency care. "
