Motorists told to avoid A17 in Lincolnshire after car and lorry crash

Part of the A17 in Lincolnshire was closed[1] following a crash involving a car and lorry. The road was closed at 2.30pm on Friday, December 19, with it not expected to reopen for several hours. The road remained shut in both directions between Beckingham[2] and Brant Broughton as of 4.30pm on Friday.
The emergency services were at the scene, with motorists told to avoid the area. A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police[3] said: "We are currently attending a collision between a lorry and a car on the A17 between Beckingham and Brant Broughton. "We expect the road to be closed for a significant amount of time.
Please avoid the area." An update from traffic monitoring site Inrix added: "A17 in both directions closed, queueing traffic due to accident from Sleaford Road (Beckingham) to Stragglethorpe Lane (Brant Broughton). Sensors confirm road closed."
