Police appeal for witnesses to fatal M6 crash

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a fatal crash which took place on the M6 last week. On Monday December 8 at around 6.30pm, the driver of a red HGV stopped on the hard shoulder between junctions 1 and 2 on the northbound carriageway. A short time later, the driver of a white Scania HGV with a blue curtain-sided trailer is believed to have driven into the red HGV.
The driver of the red HGV, a 47 year old man, died. His next of kin are being supported by specially trained police officers. Police would like to hear from anyone who may have been on the M6 or on the road network near the M6 that may have seen the white Scania HGV prior to the collision.
