Tributes to boy, 17, after A19 crash between A179 and Elwick
Harley Patterson was behind the wheel of a silver Ford C-Max when he crashed on the A-road heading southbound between the A179 and the Elwick turn off on Saturday (December 13). The 17-year-old suffered head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 11pm, and the road was closed throughout the night due to the seriousness of the incident. 
Today, Harley's family have paid tribute to him, saying he will be "sadly missed". In a statement released through Cleveland Police. the family said: "Harley was a much-loved son, brother and grandson and he will be sadly missed." 
It was previously reported that a witness at the scene described seeing a "badly burned car" being removed from the road on the back of a breakdown truck.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing and Cleveland Police has re-issued an appeal for any dash cam footage or witnesses.
The force said: "Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or anyone who may have dash cam footage, is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101, quoting reference number 238211."
