A120 crash: police appeal after man killed near Coggeshall
The incident happened on the Coggeshall bypass close to the junction with the B1024 at about 7am on Saturday morning. Essex Police have said a van which was potentially involved in the collision was later found burnt-out about three miles away in a layby near Watery Lane[1]. Emergency services closed the road for ten hours while forensic collision investigators remained on the scene.
Police have now appealed for anyone who was on the A120 on Saturday morning to contact the force to help with their enquiries.
"We have been working throughout the day to build a picture of what happened on the A120 this morning and I'm asking anyone with information on either the man seen walking or the white van which was fire-damaged to please come forward. "You may have dashcam footage which you haven't yet checked because you weren't aware of the situation; I would urge you, please do check it. Your information may be crucial to our investigation."
Anyone with information should contact the force via 101 or www.essex.police.uk[2] and quote incident number 192 of January 3, 2026.
