A30 collision left tanker driver with significant injuries

Emergency services were called at around 1.50pm on Wednesday, January 14, after reports of a crash involving a Volvo tanker-type lorry and a Renault car on the westbound carriageway. The collision occurred on the stretch of the A30 between the A39 near Newquay and the A390 at Penstraze, prompting the closure of the road in both directions as emergency teams responded. One person was reported injured at the time, and significant queues built up in the surrounding areas as traffic came to a standstill.

Devon and Cornwall[1] Police confirmed that the driver of the tanker sustained serious injuries in the incident. Officers from the Roads Policing Team remained at the scene for several hours while a collision investigation was carried out, with fire crews, paramedics, and multiple police units in attendance. The force has thanked motorists for their patience during the disruption and is now urging anyone with information to come forward.

In particular, officers are keen to hear from drivers who may have relevant dash-cam footage from the area around the time of the crash.

Anyone who can assist the investigation is asked to contact police via the Devon & Cornwall[2] Police website or by calling 101, quoting log number 325 of January 14.
