A9 road crash near Dalwhinnie sees 20-year-old man die

A 20-year-old man has died following a crash on the A9 road. The collision happened on the northbound carriageway around 11.50am on Friday, January 16 near Dalnaspidal, to the south of Dalwhinnie.

It involved a white Mercedes Sprinter van and a recovery lorry. The 20-year-old man was a passenger in the van and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 52-year-old male driver was assessed for minor injuries at the scene by the ambulance service. No one else was injured in the crash. The road was closed until around 9pm to allow for an investigation at the scene.

Sergeant Mike Guild, of the Tayside Road Policing Unit, said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who has died.

"Our enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances and I would urge anyone who may have information or dashcam footage from the area to get in touch.

"You can call 101, quoting reference 1282 of January 16."
