Driver’s shock as ‘Grand Theft Auto style’ truck seen swinging equipment through road

A driver has shared their shock after seeing a truck driving with a large apparatus swinging by its side "GTA style".

Footage shared to the Facebook page, Cirencester - Spotted driving or parked like an idiot [1] on Saturday (January 10), shows what appears to be a construction truck crossing a mini-roundabout with the equipment dangling through the air.

Fortunately, no pedestrians are walking on the pavement at the time - but the driver who shared the footage feared it could cause "serious harm" if anyone was.

They wrote: "Saw the vehicle fly out Querns Lane at the junction towards Waitrose where I noticed the swinging pole could seriously harm someone as it was streaming down the path, see for ya self.

"The thing hit the orange barricade then into the sign post coming on to the roundabout. GTA style."

Users were quick to comment, with many suggesting the driver should have beeped their horn or alerted the vehicle to the issue.

Others asked if the car had reported the issue to the truck's company.

One person wrote: "Oh gosh! Hope everyone's okay. I do believe they do this to unblock drains.

Seeing the frequency on drains on the road I can only assume this is to save time unfolding the boom."

Another said: "Fair play. Massive hose. Not sure it should be flapping about in the street."

Someone else added: "I hope you have have reported this, could of been a bad accident threw this."

A fourth wrote: "Maybe you could've flashed your lights at the lorry instead of filming it to try and get his attention . but then again how did the lorry driver not know that swinging around clearly didn't check his mirrors."
