Four men arrested after attempted theft from lorry at truck stop on the A1 at East Markham
Four men have been arrested after police responded to reports of an attempted theft from a lorry. On the evening of Tuesday (December 30), Nottinghamshire Police received reports that a lorry was being broken into at a truck stop on the A1 at East Markham. A car with cloned plates had been spotted at the scene, and was later sighted on the A1 at Blyth, and Retford response officers travelled to the area to find the vehicle.

The car was tracked down by the team around 3.50am on Wednesday (December 31) and police activated their blue lights to bring it to a halt.
A knife, torch and a pair of gloves were seen to be thrown from the vehicle, before it then came to a stop at the side of the road. Four men -- aged 20, 37, 39, and 48 -- were arrested on suspicion of going equipped to steal and attempted theft from a vehicle. PC Beth Leivers, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "As a result of the efforts of the officers involved, we were able to arrest four people suspected of being involved in criminality and stop a vehicle on cloned plates.
"Luckily in this case, no items were stolen, but vehicle break-ins of this nature could present significant costs to hauliers and will always be dealt with robustly."
