Police search teams remain at a Grangetown site as detectives say a "full examination" of the area is taking place. Cleveland Police has said the search is expected to be complete towards the end of this week.[1][2]

Details of what the police activity is in connection to have not yet been released by the force. The large-scale search is part of a "complex investigation" which is ongoing.

The force confirmed on Friday[3] that the police presence was not linked to a "missing or deceased person" following speculation circulating within the local community. The force has said some trees and vegetation will be removed so officers can carry out a full examination of the area.

A single police car remains parked in Greystones Road A1053 on the grass verge in Grangetown[4].

While the main base of operations is situated on Broadway - including a Cleveland Fire Brigade[5] welfare unit and a Police Federation welfare support van.

A number of Matrix vehicles were parked at the scene on Monday morning, January 26. Senior Investigating Officer Dan Cook said on Monday: "This is a complex investigation that requires a thorough search of this site. This will include the removal of some trees and vegetation so we can complete a full examination of the area.
