Gillingham man arrested after van crashes on A357 in Dorset

Police received a report at 8.57pm last night of a crash involving a van on the A357 at Fiddleford near Okeford Fitzpaine. The road was closed and both Dorset Council and the fire service were present due to debris on the road. A man from Gillingham aged in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of driving offences and has been released as investigations continue.
Police left the scene around 2am this morning. A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "We received a report at 8.57pm on Thursday 8 January 2026 of a single vehicle collision involving a van on the A357 at Fiddleford near Okeford Fitzpaine. "There were no reports of any serious injuries.
Road closures were put in place and the local authority and fire service attended due to reports of debris on the road.
"A Gillingham man aged in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of driving offences and has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
"Officers left the scene at around 2am on Friday, January 9."
