HGV crash damaging shops sparks Wiltshire Police investigation
Officers were called to the A4 London Road in Marlborough at around 5am on Sunday, January 11, after a HGV hit scaffolding and dragged it into the road. As previously reported, the incident blocked the road for hours and caused damage to the homes and businesses along the route. Police have now confirmed that they are investigating the crash and have urged any witnesses to come forward.
The force added that the HGV driver initially did not stop, but later returned to the scene. 
A police spokesperson said: "Significant damage was caused to buildings in Marlborough town centre following a collision. "The incident was reported to police shortly after 5am on January 11 and is believed to have happened around this time. "A HGV is reported to have hit scaffolding at buildings in London Road, causing it to fall into the road.
The collision caused significant damage to the buildings at the scene.
