A 62-year-old man has tragically died after being struck by a car on the A449 Stafford Road in Bushbury, Wolverhampton, on the morning of Saturday, January 10, 2026. West Midlands Police[2] have launched an investigation into the collision and are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage.

  1. The incident occurred near the junction of Bee Lane and Wobaston Road at approximately 6.15am. The victim was found with serious injuries, and despite the immediate efforts of passers-by and paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
  2. Investigating officers believe the man was struck by a blue Volkswagen. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries.
  3. A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being unfit to drive due to drink or drugs.

He has since been released pending further investigation as officers continue to establish the full circumstances of the crash.

  4. The southbound section of the A449 Stafford Road was closed for approximately six hours for forensic examinations. The road, which is a major route into Wolverhampton city centre, was eventually reopened just after 12pm.
  5. Det Sgt Richard Evans from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit thanked the members of the public who stopped to assist. He urged anyone who was in the area at the time and has not yet spoken to the police to come forward.
  6. Anyone with information or dashcam footage is asked to contact West Midlands Police via their website or by calling 101, quoting log number 617 of 10 January.

Alternatively, witnesses can email the investigation unit directly at [email protected].
