Live M1 traffic updates as snow closes lanes after lorry crash leading to huge queues

A busy motorway has partially closed due to the snowy weather conditions. The incident has occurred on the M1 northbound[1] between junction 28 Mansfield and junction 29 Chesterfield following a lorry crash in the early hours of Friday morning, January 9. Three of four lanes are shut as snow is also causing delays on the motorway.

A spokesperson said: "Routes particularly around Birmingham across to Leicester and Nottingham will see particularly difficult driving conditions and consideration of the weather forecast should be taken before commencing journeys, with considerable delays possible, with the A628 Woodhead Pass also likely to be affected."
The warning is in place until 9am on Friday morning.
