Motorcyclist dies after A487 Cardigan bypass crash

Emergency services were called to the A487 Cardigan bypass at around 1pm yesterday afternoon, Saturday 17 January. The incident took place on the bypass near the Caemorgan Road junction. The road was closed for much of yesterday afternoon and evening, reopening at around 9pm. The motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital, but Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed today that he did nor survive his injuries.

Dyfed-Powys Police is asking anyone who saw the crash or who has dashcam footage of either of the two vehicles to get in touch. A force spokesperson said: "Dyfed-Powys Police is appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision on the Cardigan bypass (A487) yesterday afternoon, Saturday, January 17.

"Officers were called just after 1.05pm to a report of a collision involving a Yamaha YZF R7 motorbike and a Volkswagen Transporter van on the A487 northbound, near the junction of Caemorgan Road. "The rider of the motorbike was airlifted to hospital where he sadly died of his injuries. No other injuries were reported.

"Officers investigating the incident would like to hear from anyone who was driving along this stretch of road at the time, or who might have dashcam footage of any of the vehicles involved."
