Pedestrian dies on M5 after crash involving two lorries

A pedestrian has died on the M5 after a crash involving two lorries and a pedestrian. Police were called to junction 14 of the motorway[1] at around 11.40am this morning (Tuesday, January 13) following a report of a collision. News later emerged that the crash involved two lorries and a pedestrian who was on the carriageway.
Gloucestershire Police said the pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The next of kin of the victim have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers. A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Constabulary said: "The M5 northbound carriageway remains closed after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle this morning.
"Police were called to junction 14 of the motorway at around 11.40am with a report of a collision involving two lorries and a pedestrian who was on the carriageway. "The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Their next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
"The drivers of the two lorries have been assessed by paramedics and are not believed to have sustained any serious injuries." Officers from the Roads Policing Unit are asking anyone who witnessed the incident and who has not already spoken to police to make contact. Additionally, they would like to hear from anyone who has dashcam footage they feel may be relevant.

This closure is expected to remain in place throughout the day,[3] with motorists asked to avoid the area and plan their route in advance.
The southbound carriageway has since reopened between the affected junctions; however, traffic delays may remain for some time.
Anyone who is stuck in traffic as a result of the closure and requires urgent assistance is advised to contact police or the ambulance service by calling 101 and asking for the relevant emergency service.
