Two women ‘seriously hurt’ in A449 crash near Colwall

The A449 between Colwall and Ledbury was closed in both directions following a crash at 6pm last night at the junction of the B4218 and A449 near Colwall. A witness reported that the Colwall junction at the A449 near the Wellington pub was still completely shut off at around 10pm last night. A photo shows emergency vehicles on blue lights at the scene and the road coned off by West Mercia Police.

Cars were forced to turn around. Recommended reading: A spokesperson for the West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of an RTC at 6pm at the junction of the B4218 and A449 near Colwall.

"Two ambulances, a paramedic officer, a critical care paramedic, BASICS emergency doctor and Air Ambulance Critical Care Car were sent to the scene. "On arrival, crews found a car and a van had been involved in a collision. A woman was treated by ambulance staff for serious injuries and conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

A second woman was treated for potentially serious injuries before being conveyed to Hereford County Hospital."
