Watford M1 crash – person de-arrested after three-vehicle smash

This morning (January 26) a police spokesperson has confirmed that the individual was de-arrested as they required further hospital treatment. The arrest had been made at the scene of the smash, which took place at around 4.30am on Sunday morning (January 25), involving a car, a van and a motorcycle. It happened between junction 6 (Mount Pleasant Lane, North Watford/Bricket Wood) and junction 5 (A41 Colne Way, Watford).

Three ambulances, a rapid response vehicle, a paramedic car and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were sent to the scene. A spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "Three ambulances a rapid response vehicle, a paramedic car and Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were called to the Southbound M1 early this morning following reports of a multi-vehicle road traffic collision. "Three patients were transported to Watford General Hospital by road ambulance."

The road was reopened at 10.30am.

Police say that enquires are continuing and more information is expected to be released later today.
