Officers have launched an investigation after a man tragically died after being struck by a car.
The 62-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene on Saturday (January 10).
West Midlands Police[2] (WMP) has launched an appeal for information following the collision on the A449 Stafford Road in Wolverhampton[3].

Where and when did the crash take place?
- The collision happened on the A449 Stafford Road near the junction with Bee Lane and Wobaston Road, in the Bushbury area of the city.
- WMP[6] attended the scene at 6.15am yesterday.
What happened?
- WMP[7] believe a pedestrian, who was a 62-year-old man, was struck by a blue Volkswagen car.
- Officers found the man seriously injured.
- Members of the public had come to the man's aid before paramedics arrived but he was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
- The driver remained at the scene.
- In the aftermath of the crash, the southbound section of the dual carriageway was closed off for around six hours for forensic examinations to take place.
Arrest
- WMP[8] arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of being unfit to drive due to drink or drugs.
- He has been released under investigation.
- WMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit is investigating the crash.
Appeal for information
- Detectives have launched an appeal for information, including dashcam footage, as they described the road as a 'busy' one.
- Det Sgt Richard Evans, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "Our focus at this awful time, is to establish exactly what has happened, and to offer support.
- "We would like to thank members of the public who stopped to assist at the scene and we are continuing our enquiries to determine the full circumstances of this incident.
- "This is a busy road into Wolverhampton city centre and we are asking anyone who was in the area at the time, who we have not yet spoken with, to get in contact with us."
