A10 to stay closed all day after crash kills two near Ely

The A10 remains blocked in both directions after a crash on Thursday (February 12). The incident happened between Ely and Littleport. The head-on crash involved an HGV fuel tanker and an Audi[1].
The lorry left the road and came to rest in a nearby field. The driver of the Audi, a 25-year-old woman, and the front seat passenger, a 71-year-old woman, who were both from Littleport, were both pronounced dead at the scene. A 40-year-old man from Basildon, who was driving the HGV, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and bailed until May 10.
Police said the road was likely to remain closed until the end of Friday (February 13). Drivers have been told to avoid the area until the police have reopened the road. Inrix, the traffic data monitoring company, said: "A10 in both directions closed due to accident investigation work between the edge of town (Ely) and Grange Lane (Littleport)."
