A303 closed after lorry crash spills diesel and debris

Following a lorry crash on the B3081, in which the vehicle overturned and spilt diesel fuel into the road this morning, Saturday, February 21, the A303 is closed in both directions at Mere. Emergency services are in attendance. A further closure is in place on the A350 at its crossroads with the A303, adding to the disruption in the area.

A spokesperson said: "The A303 in Wiltshire is closed in both directions between the A350, Chicklade, and B3092, Mere, due to an overturned lorry. "Closures are likely to be in place into the afternoon." A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Service said: "We were called at 7:25am today with reports of a road traffic collision on the A303.

"One crew from Mere attended, along with a crew from Wincanton (Devon & Somerset FRS). "On arrival, crews found an overturned HGV lorry with the driver out of the vehicle. "Crews worked to make the scene safe and manage a fuel spillage.

"Our stop was in at 7:41am"
