A483 Newtown bypass closed for around six hours after crash

The A483 Newtown bypass[1] was closed into the early hours of Thursday following the road traffic collision, which occurred at around 6pm. The crash happened while council workers and police were dealing with an overturned lorry at the Robert Owen roundabout[2], which had taken place earlier in the day on Wednesday. "Officers responded to a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the A483[3], Newtown bypass, which occurred at around 6pm yesterday evening," Dyfed Powys Police said in a statement.

"One person reported being injured and the ambulance service attended the incident. The road was closed while both vehicles were recovered, and the road cleared of debris. "The two vehicles involved were a Ford Mustang and a white Kia.

The road was reopened by 12.25am." Police had tweeted about the collision on Wednesday evening, asking motorists to avoid the area. The force said the crash happened between the Kerry roundabout and the Robert Owen roundabout, also referred to as the Pool Road roundabout.

Traffic was slow moving on the bypass yesterday afternoon and evening, after the HGV had overturned on the Robert Owen roundabout around lunchtime.
