Arrest after cannabis plants found in van in ‘targeted’ driving operations

TARGETTED operations carried out by police officers in four locations, three of which are in Herefordshire, have resulted in three arrests and over 70 offences recorded.

Over the last few days, enforcement activity at Bromyard, Strensham services, the A40 at Ross-on-Wye and the A49 in Herefordshire has resulted in over 70 vehicles being dealt with for offences.

These have included two drug drive arrests. One of those drivers was already disqualified from driving for a previous offence, a spokesperson for West Mercia Police said. Advertisement

One driver was also arrested for possession with intent to supply, after 25 to 30 cannabis plants were found in the rear of their van.

The locations of the arrests have not been made public by the police.

Other offences have included vehicles without tax and insurance, drivers using mobile phones, lighting offences, non-use of seatbelts, and illegal tyres.

The operations were delivered in partnership with HMRC, DVSA and West Mercia Police's motorcycle road policing officers.
