Baby seriously injured in hit-and-run on M6 as police hunt for injured men who fled

A baby girl has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after a hit-and-run crash on a M6 slip road. Lancashire Police have launched a manhunt for two men who fled the scene

Police are appealing for witnesses and footage after a hit-and-run crash[1] left a baby with serious injuries.

Lancashire[2] police officers were called to the M6 slip road at Junction 29 at 4:25pm on Friday February 13 following reports a White Ford Transit van collided with three stationary vehicles (a HGV and two cars). A baby, a passenger in one of the cars, was rushed to hospital[3] with serious injuries while the driver and passenger of the Ford Transit Van fled the scene.

Lancashire Police have issued an update following yesterday's horrific crash, it reads: "We are appealing for witnesses and footage after a baby was left with serious injuries following a road traffic collision on the Junction 29 slip road off the M6 northbound, at Bamber Bridge.

"Our officers were called to the slip road at Junction 29 at 4:25pm on Friday 13th February following reports a White Ford Transit van collided with three stationary vehicles (a HGV and two cars).

A baby, a passenger in one of the cars, has been taken to hospital with serious injuries where she remains at this time.

"The driver and passenger of the Ford Transit Van made off at the scene, and enquiries are ongoing to find them. We believe they both have serious injuries and we are concerned for their welfare."

Sgt Ben Elliott, of our Roads Policing Unit said: "A baby has been left seriously injured following this collision and our thoughts remain with her and her loved ones at this time. Extensive enquiries are ongoing to locate two men, the driver and passenger of the White Ford Transit van, and I can reassure you were are doing everything possible to find them.

"We are particularly concerned for them as we believe they sustained serious injuries in the collision, and strongly encourage them to come forward to us.

I am appealing directly to you, the public, for your assistance.
