Foreign man charged with drink driving after lorry overturns

On Sunday, police in Salisbury confirmed that 51-year-old Ion Triboi, a Moldovan national, has been charged with drink driving and remanded into custody. He is due to appear before Salisbury Magistrates Court on Monday, April 6. This relates to a road traffic collision in which a heavy goods vehicle overturned on the A303 westbound carriageway at around 7.15am on Saturday, February 21.

A National Highways spokesperson noted at the time that the lorry and a substantial section of the nearside barrier were damaged as a result of the collision, and a large spillage of diesel and mud spread across the carriageway. The barrier was straightened and made safe, and a coned off section was put in place so that full repairs can be carried out at a later date without delaying the reopening of the road. Specialist recovery teams worked to right and remove the overturned lorry.

After this work was carried out, the road fully reopened at around 3.25pm.
