M11 brought to a crawl after lorry crash – here’s everything you need to know

Delays of up to 45 minutes hit the M11 after a lorry crashed off the motorway, causing significant disruption for drivers.

The collision[1] happened near Chigwell, with the vehicle leaving the carriageway at around 2.08pm.

The incident led to immediate traffic problems on one of the main routes through Essex, with queues building in both directions.

Two lanes were closed on the southbound carriageway between junctions 4 and 5 and one lane on the northbound side.

Essex Police confirmed[2] they were on the scene following reports that the lorry had crashed off the M11, resulting in congestion and lengthy hold-ups.

All traffic was stopped both ways as emergency services dealt with the situation and lanes were closed while the incident was managed.

Motorists travelling through the area faced extended journey times during the disruption.

There are currently long delays in both directions after a crash on the M11 near Chigwell and Loughton.

Delays are around 45 minutes southbound and 20 minutes northbound.
